Life would not seem to be worthwhile when it came to the three children we support. I found little young school going children in my neighborhood and felt depressed all dressed in torn clothes asked them why they were not at school yet it was a school day. Their look forced me to ask them to show me the person they stayed with. They took me to an old lady I met in a papyrus kiosk selling tomatoes and frying some cassava I greeted the lady and that is how our conversation started.
Interacting with her I discovered her daughter died and left her with the grandchildren. Their father Lives nearby but nothing he contributes towards the wellbeing of the children he tried to talk to him but all in vain. The children live with me then I asked her why they were not at school she told me that she is helpless and nothing she can do because the little she earns is for buying something to eat.
The conditions forced to contact a friend in Ireland – Donegal Inishowen and told him about the situation of these three young children. And in few weeks’ time he sent me some money to take them to town dress and give them worth living them and take them to school. At school they eat drink and now doing well and truly their life did not remain the same. 2018 has been a unique year for them like other children they are now at school and very happy.
The situation of the three forced me to find out why there are school going children still at home I discovered many stay with single mothers the fathers abandon them and even no support they give to them. These single mothers have more than four children and do not have a reliable job. Some wash clothes for others and earn between 1 to 2 euros day depending on what is washed that day and others sort coffee seeds and the payment depend on the sacks one has picked We would bring more to school but the little support got has enabled the three to keep at school and provide them with some school needs. They have studied, eat, and drink like any other children throughout the year and the world has changed for them.
